Client Background

The client is a financial institution operating in Bangladesh, subject to the same regulatory rigor that governs financial institutions globally, including Basel III capital and risk management standards.

The Challenge

The institution needed a Risk Manager with specific Basel III compliance and credit risk management experience, a narrow and highly technical requirement. Genuinely qualified risk professionals with hands-on Basel III implementation experience are in short supply, and the ones who exist are almost always already retained by other financial institutions, not searching for new roles. This meant the standard hiring approach, posting the role and waiting for applications, was unlikely to surface a genuinely qualified candidate. 

The institution also needed assurance that whoever was hired had actually implemented these frameworks in practice, not simply studied them, given the regulatory consequences of a risk management gap.
